Most Dianthus Varieties have pink, red or white flowers with notched petals and many types have flowers with a fragrant, spicy scent.

  • Growing Tip: Cultivate soil to a depth of at least 15cm, mixing in compost and a complete fertiliser at the recommended rates. Responds well to liquid feeding. Protect from frost.

  • Uses: Steep petals in wine to impart a spicy, clove-like flavour. Petals can also be added to salads to add colour and they can be candied to use as cake decoration.
