Mentha pulegium

This pungent, aromatic, vigorous perennial has a prostrate habit and is ideal for growing in pots.

  • Growing Tip: Tolerates a range of well-drained, moist soils. Prune lightly to promote fresh growth.
  • Position: Part shade
  • Height / Spacing: 15-30cm, 20cm
  • Lifespan: Perennial
  • Use: Freshly crushed leaves reputed to repel fleas, flies, mosquitos, mice and rodents. Add a few leaves to potato dishes, sausages and cream cheese. Use dried leaves in potpourri.
  • Companion Planting: May repel pests from cabbages, cauliflowers and broccoli.
